Chris Gayle earned distinction as the only batsman to register a triple hundred when his other opening partner failed to open his account in the annals of test cricket. He achieved the feat in the test match between West Indies and South Africa at Antigua in 2004-05. His feat provided the fifth such instance of an opener registering a double hundred while his partner failed to open his account in the annals of test cricket. The oldest test cricketer to make a debut in a test match is J Southerton of England. He made his test debut at the age of 49 years and 119 days against Australia at Melbourne in 1876-77, which is also the first ever test match played

The oldest test cricketer is W Rhodes of England. He played his last test match at the age of 52 years and 165 days against West Indies at Kingston in 1929-30 {age being computed on the last day of the test match}

Shahid Afridi’s third six in the game against Sri Lanka at Dambulla on 15.06.10, the first game of Asia Cup 2010 edition, gave him an aggregate of 50 sixes against Sri Lanka. He became the second batsman in the history of one day games to score 50 plus sixes against a specific opposition. ST Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka is the other batsman who has scored 53 sixes against Pakistan. At the end of this game, Shahid Afridi has an aggregate of 54 sixes against Sri Lanka and holds the record for most sixes against a specific opposition. He hit seven sixes in this game

Australia became the first team to score 400 runs for the first time in One day game. They amassed 434 for 4 in 50 overs against South Africa at Johannesburg on 12.03.06. Australia also became the first team to lose a match in one dayers after registering 400 plus runs. South Africa won the match by scoring 434-9 in 49.5 overs.

Five bowlers from South Africa conceded 70 plus runs – M Ntini {80}, A Hall {80}, vander waath {76}, Telemachus {87} and Kallis {70}, providing the first occasion of five bowlers leaking 70 plus runs

MJ Lewis of Australia become the first bowler in the history of one day games to concede 100 plus runs without a wicket. He returned with figures o f none for 113 in this game

RT Ponting became the first captain to witness a score of  150 plus runs in a one day game in a losing cause. His 164 in this game could not fetch a win for Australia.  His 164 remains the only score of 150 plus runs in a losing cause as on date

India posted its 100th test win in the test against Sri Lanka at Kanpur in Nov 2009. India won this test by an innings and 144 runs. The chief architect of this was S Sreesanth who on his comeback captured five wickets conceding 71 runs in the first innings and 1 for 47 in the second innings. The whole cricketing world knew that India carved its 100th test win, but did not know the importance attached to  Sreesanth's five for 71 in the first innings. His five wicket haul was the 100th occasion of an Indian bowler capturing five or more wickets in India's winningtests
