The speculation spiked this week when Aaron Nagler of Cheesehead TV (no, seriously, it's a thing) tweeted that Rodgers will be on the show.

And according to the Washington Post, he and girlfriend Danica Patrick were seen last summer in Northern Ireland, where a lot of "Thrones" filming is done.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be one of the many people locked into HBO this Sunday at 9pm ET as the penultimate episode of "Game of Thrones" sets the stage for the series finale. Rodgers replied cryptically with "Episode five, Game of Thrones, effectively confirming the State Farm-sponsored sportsman will be appearin on the show". Since that remains unknown, the best we could do was speculate wildly, but judging from recent cameos, Rodgers' cameo could end up being a bit on the nose. The eighth season's fifth episode is anticipated to be one of the most thrilling yet, and there will be very special cameo in the episode. In 2017, Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard appeared as a spear-throwing soldier. A number of high-profile musicians have made cameos as well, including Ed Sheeran and Chris Stapleton. She told Jimmy Kimmel, "Episode five is bigger".

The episode will air at 8 p.m. on HBO.
