The Disney film collected $60 million from Thursday night previews in the USA, surpassing the prior record of $57 million set by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" set on its opening night in 2015.

According to Screen Daily, Endgame started with a mammoth £23.1m opening Fri-Sun, and went on to take a massive £70.8m in total, making it the 10th highest-grossing film in United Kingdom history. It's expected to take in another $80 million on Friday.

Marvel's latest outing, Avengers: Endgame, has created a worldwide fanaticism. The bigger question is whether or not Endgame will reach the vaunted $300 million mark on its opening weekend.

Endgame made $60 million in USA previews on Thursday, topping the previous record set by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

It's commendable how a universe that is supposed to glorify its heroes humanises Thanos who needs to be killed, and the screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely deserves all the credit.

The three-hour film starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson is the final chapter in a story told across 22 Marvel films.
