With Liverpool in a position to challenge for the Premier League crown, it's worth remembering the 2013/14 season when a Suarez-led team spectacularly collapsed in the face of ending the team's wait for the championship.

They have won their last 11 games and must extend that to 14 - starting at Burnley on Sunday - to be the first club to defend the title in a decade.

"We give a lot of value to the La Liga title - it's the one you chase all year long, the one which defines your season", Valverde said.

"Winning a trophy could give us more strength on Wednesday and could mean more to us than whether we are exhausted or not", Valverde said.

"It was the result I expected", said the German.

The two title rivals appear to have got their toughest assignments out of the way, after City won the Manchester derby 2-0 on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, Liverpool fans began to obsess about the intricacies which could separate them and City come the end of the season - with goal difference a key factor in the eyes of many. Yes it's a main target, and this team is pretty close in the moment, but this will be the first time, not the last time.

The most important thing for me is to be happy on the pitch, to enjoy the game and to have more minutes, " he added. Sarri said: "At the moment we can not choose".

"We weren't always able to handle those hard moments, what happened with Stevie [Gerrard] was bad luck", Suarez admitted.

Fabinho is out with a head injury so Jordan Henderson starts in midfield along with Naby Keita while Georginio Wijnaldum keeps his place in the middle of the park after scoring Liverpool's opening goal against Cardiff last time out. That's how it is and only because the club is waiting for a long time, the people are waiting, that doesn't make it more likely.

"It's really nice, it's really good news that he's back".

"We want to play the best football we can play every single day, that's the truth", he said. "We will not even try it".

"If we do it we will do it", he added.

"We're good teammates and friends, there has always been a mutual respect between us though".

"I saw what he said, he is a amusing guy".
