Covington, wanting to know why he was overlooked for this Sunday's title fight despite being the number one contender, has been appearing at UFC events all week.

It's time for yet another African athlete to carry the continent's fighting pedigree proudly, as Kamaru Usman takes on one of the most elite MMA athletes the world has seen. Neither could exceed 170 pounds.

Ben Askren picked up a victory in his UFC debut Saturday night in Las Vegas thanks to a highly controversial stoppage by veteran referee Herb Dean in the first round.

The deepest card for the foreseeable future is here as UFC 235 boasts a 12-fight event that is a must watch from start to finish.

Although they're always going to be an asterisk alongside Jon Jones' name, there's no denying that there's always been excitement surrounding a potential move to the heavyweight division.

While this is certainly a fight that could go either way, Woodley (-175) has been made a slight favorite over Usman (+145), with Woodley's ability to go on the offensive as a striker when he needs to likely giving him the advantage.

Jones finished uneventfully and remained unbeaten since 2009, winning a decision for the fifth time in his last seven fights. Hey, Dana. Is that really the best you've got?

After a close opening round, Usman dominated the second with top control on Woodley, who couldn't escape or avoid Usman's elbows. I know it's only March, but this card will be hard to beat.

Saints miss out on compensatory draft picks in 2019 Draft
The NFL announced the compensatory picks given out for the upcoming draft, and the New England Patriots were awarded four picks. In determining pick compensation, the league's private formula considers salary, playing time and postseason honors.

Askren is a brilliant wrestler but his stand-up is lacking and against someone like Lawler, if he struggles to ground the former UFC champion he could be on the end of some big punches.

Smith is on a three-fight win streak but light-heavyweight champion Jones represents a major step up in wrestling skill and also has an 8½-inch reach advantage he can put to use in the standup game.

UFC president Dana White seems to have confirmed that Daniel Cormier vs Brock Lesnar is next, although earlier in the week he said that he hadn't spoken to Brock and that he "still had obligations" with WWE.

No one would have guessed it while watching him take Tyron Woodley to the woodshed for five rounds, but Kamaru Usman won the UFC welterweight title with a fractured foot.

"I have never had anyone talk to me while I'm hitting them", Jones said.

There are some UFC fighters that crossover and reach casual fight fans - or non-MMA fans. Smith defeated mixed martial arts legends in Rashad Evans and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua with first-round knockouts then followed up with a submission over former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir.

I like this fight as it should allow for Garbrandt to pick up a much-needed win but it is certainly not a foregone conclusion.
