"Today morning at around 1155hrs an unfortunate incident occurred, wherein fire broke out in one of the parking areas outside the venue of Aero India 2019", the IAF said in a statement. The fire brigade and Rapid Action Force and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams had doused the blaze in about 40 minutes after it was noticed around noon.

The most likely cause was a "dry grass fire aided by heavy winds", said M.N. Reddi, a fire official in the southern city of Bengaluru where the show is taking place. Earlier on Tuesday, just a day before the commencement of the show, a plane had crashed during rehearsals, killing one of the pilots. Fire is fully extinguished now. More than 10 fire engines rushed to the spot in a moment's notice.

The cars then were pushed out of the fire area to create an artificial break in the fire, he added. Rakesh, a fire-fighter from Channapatna fire station suffered minor burns while trying to control the fire. According to reports, around 100 vehicles have been gutted due to the fire.
