The Toronto Raptors, chasing the Milwaukee Bucks for first place in the Eastern Conference, overcame Joel Embiid and the 76ers, 119-107, in Philadelphia in the National Basketball Association on Tuesday, February 5 (Wednesday, February 6, Manila time).

It will be interesting to see just how much of an upgrade this deal is for the Raptors, but it was certainly worth a roll of the dice considering how little they had to give up for the veteran big man.

A person familiar with the terms tells The Associated Press that the Toronto Raptors have acquired Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies for a package including centre Jonas Valanciunas. Franchise stars Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry missed significant time, and yet the Raptors have continued to foster a winning attitude thanks to their sheer depth across the board marching to a 39-16 record. "I've never asked for a trade. That's one of the things where I'm sure we have a good enough relationship to know what is going on". His shooting woes had become a hot topic among fans of the Raptors, who have struggled with the deep ball in recent weeks.

Elsewhere on the Grizzlies roster, former Jazz PG Shelvin Mack was also traded.

Trump wall emergency a 'good chance'
But we will, at the same time, be building - regardless, we're building wall and we're building a lot of wall. The president then repeated his cryptic claim: "We've set the stage for what's going to happen".

All of which is to say, the Raptors lost two guys who hadn't been key pieces all season and one in Valanciunas who was replaced by someone who is significantly better at the same position.

Gasol, 34, is a three-time All-Star and was the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 2012-13.

To go along with his scoring, Gasol is an excellent passer.

There definitely are some other teams in the eastern conference who could make this happen. It seems the trade demands for Memphis make this deal unlikely to happen. But three of the four Raptors who played the most minutes against the Cavs last May - DeMar DeRozan, Miles, and Valanciunas - are now all gone. He also said that it's more likely that Marc Gasol is moved at the deadline than Conley. "I love Toronto and I want to stay here".
