PSG said in a statement this morning: "The first examinations carried out revealed a painful reactivation of the lesion of the fifth right metatarsal".

The Ligue 1 champions are unable to put a timescale on his recovery as they say treatment will depend on how the injury evolves over the coming days but Neymar is obviously now considered a major doubt for PSG's Champions League clash with Man Utd next month.

Television images showed Neymar rolling off his sock and pointing to the side of his right foot, which he also fractured almost exactly one year ago while playing in the French league against Marseille.

The Brazil global was seen in tears after the blow and was replaced by Moussa Diaby just after the hour mark.

PSG have now progressed to the last 16 of the Coupe de France. The tie's second leg is on 6 March, giving Neymar six weeks to recover.
