Microsoft acknowledged back in 2017 that it would no longer be developing Windows Phone. A few hours ago the American Corporation Microsoft has announced that after 10 December 2019 the Windows 10 operating system will stop receiving updates, and, in addition, from this very moment will cease any support.

The good 'ol Microsoft Windows Phone is now dead as Microsoft now officially recommends using iPhone or Android. Microsoft's mission statement to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more, compels us to support our Mobile apps on those platforms and devices.

Creation of new device backups continues to work until March 10, 2020. The date was revealed in a support document from Microsoft that was updated this week.

However, older Windows Mobile gadgets, which are not getting the Windows 10 OS Version 1709, there will be no support till the end date, that is December 10th.

She said she's "still working on" that but confirmed the delayed vote will go ahead as planned, around January 15. Even if you are just wanting to get a better deal, you must be prepared.

Microsoft is said to be working on a series of foldable devices that will be powered by Windows 10.

Despite a series of acquisitions (Nokia) and tie-ups (Samsung), Windows Phones weren't as profitable for Microsoft as planned, and thus the company stopped manufacturing and focusing on them. He believes users should be able to use Alexa or Google Assistant to call on the capabilities of Cortana through close integration. Potentially, its surface phone project, "Andromeda", could potentially be canceled as the company moves on to other ventures.

Nadella seems happy to avoid getting involved in the creation of more hardware devices for Cortana, saying: "And you should also be able to use it on Google Assistant". The prior head of Window Phone Mr Terry Myerson said a little about its failure in March of past year. But AI and voice control is still an emerging technology and the ubiquity of Microsoft products in consumer and business worlds means there's plenty of scope for Cortana to be useful. Potentially, we could see some unique apps for both iOS and Android that Apple and Android developers haven't made yet. Microsoft states that it has no plans to "remove historical Windows 10 Mobile updates from Windows Update".
