The Reds beat Wolverhampton on Friday and then saw Crystal Palace rally from a goal down to score two against Manchester City before halftime.

Ilkay Gundogan had opened the scoring for the Blues in the first half before two stunning goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Andros Townsend turned the game on its head to hand the Eagles a half-time lead.

There is still a long way to go in the title race but City now have two defeats to set against Liverpool's unbeaten record.

Townsend's goal - a spectacular volley from 30 yards - was a contender for goal of the season.

Unbelievable work rate, good pace on the counter-attack and a wonder goal to boot; Andros Townsend will never forget his Christmas miracle of a trip to the Etihad in 2018.

City had not lost any of their previous 52 league games against teams outside the traditional "big six", a run dating back almost two years to a defeat at Everton in January 2017. The important thing was we stood up to Manchester City really well.

At Emirates Stadium, the predatory Aubameyang took his season-leading tally of league goals to 12 with his double in the win over Burnley, one more than Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

City could only claw one goal back through Kevin De Bruyne five minutes from time to ensure Liverpool will be four points clear at the top of the pile at Christmas.

Pep Guardiola says that Manchester City will try to recover after today's shock 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Jamie Vardy scored as Leicester upset Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Guaita 7, Wan-Bissaka 8, Tomkins 7, Sakho 9, van Aanholt 7, McArthur 6, Milovojevic 8, Schlupp 8, Meyer 6, Townsend 10, Zaha 7.

"When you win I am a genius, when you lose I am not good", Guardiola said.

- Since his Premier League debut, Milivojevic has scored 13 penalties - five more than any other player in that time.

Bournemouth won 2-0 at home to Brighton, and Newcastle's home game with Fulham ended 0-0. He will learn, we will learn about the situation for the knockout stages (of the Champions League) and important games, to improve on that.

Nathan Redmond, Danny Ings, with a penalty, and Michael Obafemi scored as Southampton won 3-1 at Huddersfield, a second straight win for new manager Ralph Hasenhuettl.

"The victory was deserved and in the table we are closer to Tottenham and Chelsea", said Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who praised Oezil, the German setting up two of the three goals.

Rafa Benitez's side pumped balls into the area in the second half, looking to find the head of striker Salomon Rondon, but the match finished in a stalemate leaving them 14th in the standings.
