Amusing (or not) how those words with Colin Jost on "Weekend Update" may have come back to haunt Davidson now that the "SNL" comedian and the pop star have reportedly called off their whirlwind engagement, though they are still "working things out", according to a Us Weekly source.

Recently, though Grande canceled her performance on Saturday Night Live's premiere episode on September 26th, she did join him at 30 Rock when the episode was being filmed.

But after the summer of Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's epic whirlwind romance, it still was a bit jarring to see the headlines on Sunday evening.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson shocked the world yesterday when it was announced they had broken up.

"It's not shocking to anyone", the source told People. Soon, they moved in to a $16 million apartment.

The comedian and his new love went Instagram official and posted a cute snap of themselves dressed up as characters from Harry Potter.

None of the witnesses the women said would corroborate their claims did so, and Kavanaugh passionately denied the allegations. He later expressed regret over some of his comments. "I will work very hard to achieve that goal", Kavanaugh said.

Later, she tweeted to thank her fans for all of their love and support. Look, they got more matching tattoos.

Pete initially shared the news of their engagement on social media in June posting a photo of their hands - hers with a massive rock on her ring finger - and the caption: "U know what you'd dream it be like?"

A rep for Grande did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment, and Davidson's rep had no comment. Pete deleted his social media accounts as the reports went viral.

Davidson's reps did not immediately respond to EW's requests for confirmation. It's a sad day for their fans-and their baby pig. "GQ wouldn't hit me up if I didn't recently get engaged to a super-famous person", he said during a GQ interview and photoshoot.

"SNL" guru Lorne Michaels revealed in a report last month: "We had Ariana drop out for emotional reasons ... then Kanye [West] stepped up, and he'll be there". They even made their red carpet debut at this August's MTV Video Music Awards, where Grande performed.
