"How dare any of these Republican leaders in the Senate or in Congress not support the president", she said. Kavanaugh was a judge on the D.C. Circuit for 12 years.

This ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone October 8-11, 2018, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 1,144 adults, with 65 percent reached on cell phones and 35 percent on landlines.

Ironically they would ultimately have come under the supervision of Merick Garland, the Supreme Court nominee put forward by President Obama who never got a Senate confirmation hearing.

Discipline under those rules could have ranged from Kavanaugh getting a private talking-to by the chief judge on his circuit -Garland - to a suspension from hearing cases and even to a referral to the House of Representatives for possible impeachment proceedings. More than 3 in 4 Democrats (77 percent) say they are "very motivated" to turn out and vote in the midterms - more than the 68 percent of Republicans who say they're "very motivated". By another, the Democrats' advantage from before the Kavanaugh fight remains.

There was a stark difference between the sexes, with 63 percent of women saying they would vote Democrat, and only 33 percent said they would vote Republican. And Democratic activists were not pleased. That is slightly lower than in August, when the Democratic advantage was 14 points. Historically, that kind of gap foreshadows gains, possibly substantial, for the Democrats. "We have refused to be the women who sit down and shut up".

White women with college degrees split 57 percent to 42 percent for Democratic candidates while white women without a college education lean toward Republicans, 49 percent to 43 percent.

The President denies all the allegations against him. Results have a margin of sampling error of 3.5 points for the full sample, including design effects due to weighting.

Tesla misses weekly Model 3 production target, flags tariff costs
The SEC sued Musk last week for securities fraud , saying the executive hadn't lined up funding for the deal , as he had claimed. Likewise, Tesla will pay another $20 million due to its failure to check whether Musk's announcements complied with the law.

This week, the DC circuit published a letter from Roberts responding to the DC circuit's request to transfer the matter from itself, where Kavanaugh had previously served thereby presenting a conflict of interest, to another circuit.

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the second-ranking GOP leader, said McConnell had offered Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer "a list of nominations that are not particularly controversial, and if they will agree to dispose of them, then they'll be able to go back home" to "raise money and campaign".

The deal is a significant victory for McConnell, who has made clearing a long list of President Donald Trump's nominees, especially judges, a top priority this year.

The poll suggests disagreement with Trump's view that Kavanaugh had been exonerated, and does not support the notion of a national backlash against the attacks on Kavanaugh, as some Republicans have suggested. By 74 percent to 61 percent, registered voters who identify as Democrats or lean toward the Democratic Party are more likely than registered voters who identify as Republicans or lean toward the GOP to say these midterm elections are more important than past ones. The big question, they agree, is whether conservative enthusiasm will last until November 6 or fade away, victim to the historic pattern of midterm congressional losses by the party holding the White House and the ever-changing parade of distracting controversies prevalent under Trump. Democrats suffered losses in both those elections.

But for Trump, a focus on Kavanaugh could excite his base, said Gallup pollster Frank Newport. "But again, I think history would tell us, and polling data tells us, Democrats are more animated over Kavanaugh and over other things".

Simultaneous marches were to be held in nearby cities in Republican areas of IL - outside of the Democrat-stronghold of Chicago. Dean Heller and his Democratic opponent, Rep. Jacky Rosen (46 percent for Heller to 45 percent for Rosen).

Democratic advantages on the others are all by double digits. His ascension to the high court has not quelled opposition.
