"And she said she was totally inebriated, and she was all messed up, and she doesn't know it was him, but it might have been him".

Additionally, a Yale University classmate of Kavanaugh, Debbie Ramirez, claims he exposed himself to her at a college party, and Michael Avenatti, who is representing adult film star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against Trump, tweeted Sunday he soon intends to reveal accusations against Kavanaugh from another woman. She said that she had been drinking.

Trump, himself accused during the 2016 presidential race of sexual misconduct with numerous women, twice offered words of support for Kavanaugh while in NY to attend the U.N. General Assembly.

Republicans have invited Christine Blasey Ford, who said Kavanaugh groped her at a party in high school 36 years ago, to testify on Thursday.

The controversy over Kavanaugh is unfolding just weeks before November 6 congressional elections in which Democrats are trying to take control of Congress from Trump's fellow Republicans, against a backdrop of the #MeToo movement fighting sexual harassment and assault.

In a statement provided by the White House, Mr Kavanaugh said the event "did not happen" and that the allegation was "a smear, plain and simple".

"There's a chance that this could be one of the single most unfair, unjust things to happen to a candidate for anything", Trump said.

Ramirez is the second woman to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. On Sept. 21 he shamed Professor Ford for not coming forward when she says the alleged sexual assault attempt occurred.

Trump Backs Supreme Court Nominee Despite New Sexual Assault Claim
Chuck Grassley of Iowa, is shrugging off responsibility for the extension onto the Senate's Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr.

Murkowski's remarks, made Monday night, were published shortly after she publicly suggested the FBI should investigate the mounting sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.

Ramirez admitted to the New Yorker that there are gaps in her memory of the incident, and that she expects her memories to be questioned as she had been under the influence of alcohol. "As Dr. Blasey Ford has been clear since her experience was first made public, she came forward because she believes it is her civic duty to tell the truth about the sexual assault she experienced", Bromwich wrote. Denying the allegations against him, he vowed that he won't be "pushed out" of the confirmation process.

But there was nothing ordinary about the stakes and circumstances of Mr Kavanaugh's nomination, with Republicans fighting to get him on the court by the end of September and cement a conservative-leaning court for years to come.

The call for support comes ahead of a showdown Thursday, as Kavanaugh and Ford are set to testify openly before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Her allegation against the conservative federal appeals court judge has endangered his confirmation by the Republican-led Senate to a lifetime job on the top USA court.

Republicans, with a 51-49 Senate majority, can confirm Kavanaugh if they stay united. Brett Kavanaugh is an absolute outstanding person. Several Republican senators have said they won't decide how to vote on Kavanaugh until after the hearing. Ramirez, 53, is the same age as Kavanaugh and they both graduated from the university in 1987.

"If Kavanaugh really wanted to get to the truth, he'd go to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, not Fox News", she said.
