The confrontation happened outside a hearing at which Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg and Twitter's Jack Dorsey testified on their companies' efforts to combat the use of fake social media accounts by Russian Federation and other foreign powers to interfere in USA elections.

On Wednesday, before confronting Rubio, Jones held a freewheeling gaggle with reporters outside the Senate hearing room where Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey were set to testify. "Marco Rubio the snake", Jones said. Jones asks if he plans to call the police and Rubio replies, "I'll take care of it myself".

"Don't touch me again, man", Rubio tells Jones.

"Marco Rubio just threatened to beat me up!"

"You're not gonna get arrested", Rubio said.

"I just patted you nicely", responded Jones, adding "I don't wanna get arrested". "You are literally like a little gangster thug".

Twitter also said that it "will take action" if in the future it discovers other accounts being used to get around the ban of Jones and InfoWars.

Williams sisters to square off in third-round showdown
The No. 31 seed Verdasco took down the world's former No. 1 in four sets, beating Murray, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the second round. Both sisters were asked after their wins about playing each other, and each of them delivered with some amusing quotes.

During the exchange (see video below), Jones repeatedly interrupted the interview, essentially video-bombing it to complain about alleged bias at social-media giants against right-wing voices.

Rubio went back to speaking to reporters with an impressive poker face as Jones continually interjected, claiming that "Democrats are raping Republicans". "Hur hur hur. Little frat boy over here".

Jones runs and has promoted conspiracy theories such as one claiming the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting didn't occur.

The controversial radio host's appearance at the Senate hearing comes after Facebook, Apple, YouTube and Spotify took down material published by Jones, reflecting more aggressive enforcement of their hate speech policies after rising online backlash and raising pressure on Twitter to do the same.

The party-line senator was giving an interview outside the congressional hearings on Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday when he was ambushed by the InfoWars host. Jones said Rubio "plays dumb" and imitated Rubio's laughter at him.

"Who's this guy, why are you platforming him?" "I'm asking you not to touch me again". After the hearing reconvened, he reportedly went back in to watch the testimonies.

Rubio's closing shot: "You guys can talk to this clown (Jones)".
