Some of the president's critics have said that Trump, if he meets with Putin, should demand the extradition of the Russian officials responsible. "I'm not going with high expectations". While Putin has long denied Russian involvement and did so again Monday, the USA intelligence community has long maintained that Russia did, in fact, meddle in the US election, and just three days ago, the Justice Department indicted 12 Russian government agents for hacking the Democratic Party during the 2016 election.

The U.S. now has no open treaty with Moscow and can not force Russian to extradite citizens, as a provision in the Russian constitution prohibits this.

"Nothing bad is going to come out of it (Helsinki), and maybe some good will come out", he said. "That's a really good thing". "So I want us to be able to sit down, to negotiate the best deal for Britain". She added that Trump also said: "Don't walk away".

Senior Senate Democrats sent a letter on Saturday to Trump urging him not to meet Putin alone.

President Trump called the testimony of former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok a "disgrace", adding, "I think it hurts our relationship with Russian Federation".

Clinton tweeted Sunday night, ahead of the President's first official summit with Putin, taking place in Helsinki, Finland.

The president opened his first meeting with Putin - it lasted more than two hours last July in Hamburg, Germany - by pressing Putin on Russian election meddling and Putin denied being involved, according to US officials who described the meeting afterward. Bolton described the meeting as "unstructured", saying: "We're not looking for concrete deliverables here".

"Our relationship with Russian Federation has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!"

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) attacked CNN's Wolf Blitzer during his show on Monday.

Russia had earlier denied meddling in the USA election campaign, while Trump called special counsel Mueller's probe on the Russian interference a "political witch hunt". Paul then attacked Blitzer's interviewing skills.
