Most of the projected lottery picks went in the lottery.

The Big 12 fell far short of matching its seven NCAA berths with only three first-round picks.

When the Phoenix Suns selected Deandre Ayton with the first pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, they created what might be the best young core in the entire NBA. Talk about awkward. Anything the Cavs do to retain The King will likely include packaging their newest draft pick in a trade for another star, just like they did with Andrew Wiggins in 2014.

For the record, winners of the draft include the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

DALLAS-Luka Doncic didn't get compared to Larry Bird when he was introduced a day after the Dallas Mavericks traded up to get the third overall pick in the National Basketball Association draft. Doncic, who led Real Madrid to the Spanish and EuroLeague titles and led Slovenia to the European title last summer, might be just the player to live up to that hype.

The Suns, were BAD last season.

"What's more is it gives us relevancy points talking to fans", Rowley said of Ayton's impact on growth. "They really wanted me, and they were very, very nice", the 19-year-old said.

Another explanation was an unusually large number of undrafted players, including a young German in Maxi Kleber who grew up watching his countryman become the 2007 MVP and 2011 NBA Finals MVP.

"(I grew) up around that brand, I'm used to that brand", Ayton said. "Having all that confidence leading up to that point when I saw [NBA commissioner] Adam Silver come out, I was just waiting for my name".

Ayton is the obvious pick.

The 19-year-old Ayton was expected to go first to the Suns who like the seven-foot (2.1-meter) center's size and skill which he used to dominate in U.S. college last season with the Arizona Wildcats.

The 2018 NBA Draft didn't feature very many surprises.

Besides Ayton and Bagley, other big men to go early included Wendell Carter (Chicago Bulls), Jaren Jackson (Memphis Grizzlies) and Mohamed Bamba (Orlando Magic).

"Reporters from league broadcast partners ESPN, Turner Sports and Yahoo will be prohibited from disclosing draft selections on social media before they are officially announced, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of the decision", the New York Times reports.

"They booed (Kristaps) Porzingis (on draft night) and look where he is now". Obviously, you watch the list of this class in the draft and also free agents, and he can be one of the elite point guards in this league and I think he's crafty, he's a great ball-handler. Therefore, the team will have some flexibility in who they sign in free agency. One thing you were sure to hear about those players is the hard work and dedication they put into being the best they can be. The steep price paid by Chicago to pick up a non-lottery selection from New Orleans (22nd overall) back in February also might have scared off potential opportunists.
