U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat (ah-dree-AH'-noh ehs-peye-YAHT') and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. called the video "vile".

A worker told ABC News after: 'This is New York City, everybody is different here, everybody has different opinions and some people have a hatred mind.

The man who berated employees and customers for speaking Spanish in a New York City cafe has a history of aggressively confronting strangers on their identity. "If they have the balls to come here and live off my money - I pay for their welfare, I pay for for their ability to live here. The 8.6 million people who call this city home speak more than 200 languages - they're all New Yorkers and they're all welcome here", he added.

A white man's vitriolic rant in a Manhattan eatery Wednesday after overhearing employees speaking to customers in Spanish has gone viral.

In video of the confrontation, Schlossberg can be seen yelling profanities and saying, "You are not a Jew" at the counterprotesting Haredi Jews.

Since the video appeared online, people have been trolling his law office pages on Facebook, Google and Yelp, giving 1-star ratings.

Social media users have strongly criticised the man in the video, who local media report is a New York-based lawyer. With cameras rolling, a couple of reporters pursued him down the street in the rain even as he began to run away at one point, asking him pointed questions as he shielded himself from them and their cameras under an umbrella. The power of the internet also went to work against him, with a fundraiser started to send a mariachi band to perform outside his office. One clip was posted to YouTube in October 2016 by a man who said Schlossberg attempted to shove him on a sidewalk before threatening to call the police.

Mr Schlossberg, a registered Republican who donated $500 to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, boasts of being fluent in Spanish in his own company biography. His rant is only the latest of a rash of videos showing racism in America in 2018.

Another video shows a man who appears to be Schlossberg chanting "Milo (Yiannopoulos)" at a protest previous year, and railing against "fake Jews".
