After that episode, authorities in IL revoked his gun license and confiscated four firearms, including what police said was the rifle used in the Waffle House shooting.

She said: "We told them, 'Hang onto him if you can". They found three books on patents in the apartment.

More uncertainty also swirled around how someone who had raised so many red flags over the years - drawing the attention of local police, state police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Secret Service - was still allegedly able to use a gun authorities said he had been barred from possessing and had signed over to his father.

Previous police reports have described Reinking as a distressed, anxious, and volatile man.

By then, police say, the 29-year-old with a troubled past had shot four people to death early Sunday in a Waffle House restaurant not far from where he lived in Nashville.

ATF agent Marcus Watson said Jeff Reinking could be charged.

Nashville police were working on Tuesday to determine what motivated a gunman with an AR-15 rifle to kill four people at an all-night Waffle House restaurant, having arrested a suspect with a history of erratic behavior.

Martellaro said the former co-worker left him with the impression that Reinking's interest in the sovereign citizen movement was part of his "delusional makeup". He grabbed the barrel of the gun and wrested it away from the suspect, throwing it over a counter and forcing the man outside.

"I never thought I'd be in a room with all the eyes on me, but you know, I'm very grateful to be here", Shaw told House members on Tuesday. He's being called the Waffle House Hero, but says he doesn't feel like one.

McMurry, who also addressed the politicians, praised Shaw as not only his best friend but "a great man".

Apple is replacing some 13-inch MacBook Pro batteries
The company has said that there is some component failure in the built-in batteries of some limited number of MacBook Pros. Apple has requested customers who are getting their batteries replaced to backup their machines well in advance.

Davidson County Judge Michael Mondelli did not give a reason for overturning the bond order issued by a night magistrate following the arrest of Travis Reinking, but his decision followed a public outcry over the possibility that the suspect could potentially be freed from jail.

An earlier $2 million bail was revoked Tuesday, and he awaits his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Police said Reinking opened fire in the restaurant parking lot before storming the inside, which contained about 20 people.

An attorney listed as Reinking's lawyer did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Alerted to the theft of a BMW from a vehicle dealer last week, officers decided against a risky chase knowing the auto had a Global Positioning System device and could be located.

Using the car's Global Positioning System, officers tracked the auto to Reinking's apartment complex and recovered it. But they didn't figure out who had stolen the auto until after tragedy struck.

One of the fatally wounded inside was DeEbony Groves, a 21-year-old student at Nashville's Belmont University. If not for the efforts of a customer who wrestled the gun away, many more would have died.

Questions still lingered after the Waffle House shooting, including what could have prompted the attack.

He said the job of his officers was to protect the community from Reinking and also protect him from the community as "tensions are high".
