The Centre on Sunday dismissed allegations of data leak via Prime Minister Narendra Modi (NaMo) app as fake stories.

"We all know that Rahul Gandhi is no match for Narendra Modi". BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya responded on Twitter with screenshots of a Narendra Modi Android app page, which said, "No permission is compulsory on the NM app". "The permissions required are all contextual and cause-specific".

A French cybersecurity researcher who goes by the pseudonym Elliot Alderson had said on Saturday that the Narendra Modi app shares registered users' data with US-based behavioral analytics company called Clever Tap. "The information shall not be provided to third parties in any manner whatsoever without your consent". It also said the data is used only for analytics using third party service, similar to Google Analytics.

On the upcoming Karnataka elections, Rahul Gandhi said he was confident of his party winning not only the state but also the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. It added that analytics on user data is done to offer users contextual content. I am India's Prime Minister.

The Congress and the BJP has been engaged in a bitter war of words since the news of Facebook data breach became public last week.

Cambridge Analytica is under scanner in many countries over allegations of stealing data of Facebook users and alleged use of bribes and sex workers to entrap politicians.

Anderson wrote in a separate tweet that the domain where app data was being sent is classified as a phishing link by G-Data.

The Congress accused the BJP and its ally JD (U) of getting help from disgraced British data research firm Cambridge Analytica to win elections in 2010 and 2014. After MRI & NCC, today he exposes his great knowledge about technology.

Congress chief also attacked the government on foreign black money and said that it was having the list of those who have accounts in Swiss Banks but it is reluctant to table in Parliament. The Congress has hit back denying the charge and Mr Gandhi himself has slammed the Union Minister and questioned his efficiency in the running of the key ministry.
