Sony is expanding on the parental controls introduced in the previous 5.00 update with Play Time Management. Included in the newest PS4 Update 5.50 we'll see play time management, quick menu enhancements, importing custom wallpapers via USB and more. Managing Playtime is as simple as heading to Settings Family Management or logging into their PlayStation account from their PC or smartphone, to check and manage their child's daily playtime. The system is set up to notify your child during gameplay so that he/she knows when they should save and quit.

Another helpful organizational feature lets players hide apps from their library. In the "This PS4" tab, users can see a list of all applications installed on the PS4. The Name/Avatar tab will show all the apps that the player has purchased using their PSN ID. Easy as that. Aside from this nifty feature that Sony is bringing for PS4 Pro users, there are a few other handful features and benefits coming as well.

If you are getting swarmed with bought as well as earned games from PS Plus, the PS4 Update 5.50 has you covered. Users can play these games again once they have re-subscribed to the service. You can hide content like betas, trials, and demos. It's nice to know how many hours of our life we've sunk into our hobby.

Sony added a pulldown menu under the Friends tab in the Quick menu that allows you to see which of your friends are online. This will also allow you to see who's now online. This also works when you're playing music off a USB device.

Meanwhile, there's the ability to delate old notifications, import custom wallpapers via USB, plus the addition of background music on PS Now. This is another feature that's useful for gamers who don't want so much clutter on their PS4. As we previously reported, this includes a custom Tournaments team page that can be found in the Events sections, as well as Supersampling for everyone with a PS4 Pro and no 4K TV.

One of the primary complaints on the original Gold Headset was that the foldable hinges were flimsy and would break over time.

The PlayStation Blog has posted details of the features found in the beta test of the 5.50 firmware upgrade. This makes the PS4 Pro render the game in 4K, and then downsample it to your TV's resolution. Reset Era has a list of games compiled that support supersampling.
