Phil Neville announced as coach for England women's national team

Phil Neville will not face disciplinary action over sexist tweets as the FA confirmed that all six candidates on their shortlist pulled out of the recruitment process to be the England women's manager before the former Manchester United player was approached.

Neville learned his trade under the guidance of legendary United coach Sir Alex Ferguson, playing for the Red Devils for 11 years until 2005.

Tracey sent him a congratulatory Twitter message - a day after her England Roses team lost 50-46 to Australia in the Quad Series following their 64-57 comeback victory over New Zealand's Silver Ferns last Saturday (Sunday NZT). This is the disappointing aspect of Neville's appointment, but it certainly isn't his fault.

Players are excited to see what he can offer and, after accusations that Sampson had his favourites - shown by picking his Euro 2017 squad three months early - Neville could open the door to those who previously believed it was closed.

Eldest brother Gary, 42, earned 85 caps and won every honour in the game as Manchester United's right back. The ex-England worldwide later became Valencia's assistant manager, where he remained until 2016. He is hugely supportive of the careers of his sister, a former netball player and now England's national netball coach, and his wife Julie, a health food author.

"Yes, he doesn't know the ins and outs of the women's game but he's adaptable and I don't think it will take him long before he's memorised every player who's now playing in all the leagues", Osman told BBC Sport.

Range Rover SV Coupe outed
The Range Rover SV Coupe's interior will doubtless be a attractive place to spend time with gorgeous wood and leather everywhere you look.

But those tweets are hardly the biggest reason Neville's appointment - especially in the wake of how Sampson's firing went down - suggests the people in charge at the FA don't take their women's program seriously at all.

Yet Neville has everything to learn about the psychology, physiology, terminology and styles of play in what remains a very separate game to men's football.

These are all qualifications that Phil Neville does not have or meet in any shape or form.

Mark Sampson was sacked as manager of England's national women's soccer team in September after allegations came to light that he had both "overstepped the professional boundaries between player and coach" while coaching a women's pro team and been accused of racism, harassment and bullying by a former national team player of Nigerian descent.

The Lionesses, who occupy third in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women's World Ranking, now boast a 100 per cent record on the road to France 2019 after high-scoring victories against Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kazakhstan.

He added: "I am fully aware of my responsibilities as the England women's head coach and am immensely proud and honoured to have been given the role".
