The $125 million in question amounts to about a third of Washington's annual donations to the agency. The U.S. Congress is close to passing the Taylor Force Act, which would cut off Palestinian aid money unless the practice is stopped. The frozen amount represents more than a third of the $300 million the U.S. contributes to UNRWA annually.

He said neither U.S. President Donald Trump nor Israel's ruling Likud party "would be able to change the identity or the features of Jerusalem, which has always a Palestinian, Arab and Islamic face and identity".
