The NFL announced Monday that the pop star will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the game on February 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Pink will get the Super Bowl party started by singing the national anthem before the championship game in Minneapolis on February 4, the NFL said on Monday. They also note that alongside Pink will be actor and director Alexandria Wailes, who will perform both the National Anthem and "America The Beautiful" in American Sign Language, on behalf of the National Association Of The Deaf.

The national anthem is routinely one of the most watched and scrutinized moments of the Super Bowl, with legions of amateur hand-timers firing up their phones to try and determine if the national anthem goes over or under the projected Vegas total. Lady Gaga sang the national anthem the year before her halftime show so perhaps Pink will make an appearance next year too. He will look to rebound from his last Super Bowl performance. Artists such as Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, and Christina Aguilera have been tapped to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in previous years.

The 36-year-old singer announced the news on his Twitter account last year in which he shared a short clip alongside talk show host Jimmy Fallon.

The pair repeated the same questions and answers a few times before an excited Jimmy asked: 'You're doing the Halftime Show at the Super Bowl?'
