Letterman, 70, who officially retired in 2015 after a 22-year run as the host of "Late Show with David Letterman" - a very American melange of celebrity interviews, monologues and sketches - had said in August that he would be back in 2018 on Netflix.

Former President Barack Obama will be the first guest on comedian David Letterman's new Netflix show, which is set to launch next week, according to the streaming service.

This screengrab shows a preview of David Letterman (R)'s interview with former U.S. president Barack Obama which will be shown on Netflix.

Hov's longtime friend, President Obama, will be the show's first guest when it debuts January 12. Late-night legend David Letterman, however, is going about it a little differently.

New year, blue Moon
As an example, Space.com explained that in Melbourne, Australia, the first full moon comes on January 2 at 1:24 p.m. local time. The first full moon will happen the evening of January 1 or the morning of January 2, thinking of where you are.

Letterman's interview with Obama will mark the former president's first television talk show appearance since he left office in January past year.

The first episode of Letterman's new show will be Obama's first televised talk-show interview since leaving the presidency in 2017. Dave's lineup of influential guests includes George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, Howard Stern and President Barack Obama. It will be his first talk show appearance since leaving the White House in January of previous year.

David Letterman is retiring from retirement. These segments will allow him to "dig deeper" into topics related to the guest featured in the episode.
