A Wind Chill Warning is in place through Tuesday morning.

Wind chill temperatures could drop to 15 below zero to 25 below zero Saturday night and could reach 30 below zero Sunday night. Wind chill values will range between -20 and -35 degrees.

At times there has been a noticeable wind, giving us a wind chill value ranging form positive to negative numbers. The high on New Year's Day is only nine degrees, with the Monday night low of 2-below zero. Most overnight lows will be in the teens.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny. Wind: N 10-15; gusty. According to the National Weather Service, one-to-two inches of snow per hour are possible with the snow bands, and hard travel conditions are in the forecast.

A prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 16 Wednesday night, a chance of snow showers before 1 a.m. Saturday, the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation transitioned its snow plows to begin clearing residential streets after clearing main streets.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory beginning at 6 pm Saturday and extending to noon on Tuesday. "Sub-zero wind chills which could cause hypothermia and frostbite".

It's also important to keep a watchful eye over children, and to make sure everyone dresses warmly in layers.
