But if you've already blown through your stack of games and need something new to play, January's free Xbox Games with Gold have you covered.

Though we're predominantly PS4 gamers, we do like to look at how the two subscription services compare when it comes to the free games each month (plus some of us do actually own an Xbox as well).

In the case of Xbox One, users can enjoy The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (available from January 1 to January 31) and Zombi (available from January 16 to February 15).

Tomb Raider: Underworld will be available for the Xbox 360 and as a backwards compatible title for the Xbox One between January 1st and January 15th, 2018.

The next game for Xbox One is Zombi. The third in the series from NeocoreGames, Van Helsing is a role-playing action RPG.

Hopefully next month's batch of games will bring us something to make up for this month's mediocrity.

The research supports the theory that certain biometric security mechanisms may not be as secure as once thought. SYSS provided two videos demonstrating its proof of concept attacks.

Last but certainly not least is Army of Two, one of the new franchises that Electronic Arts helped fund during the period where they weren't quite so hated. This is the first time the action-role-playing game has been released on Xbox One, and it comes with Xbox One X support.

Equallly, whilst we know more original Xbox games will be coming in the months ahead, players shouldn't expect to see the full catalogue of original Xbox titles in the future.

On the Xbox 360 side of things there's cool pairing of classic titles from the former generation, including Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider: Underworld.

With the arrival of 2018 will come the year's first selection of Xbox's free Games with Gold.

Army of Two: available on Xbox 360, January 16 - 31. Then from January 16 through 31, you can get the two-person shooter Army of Two, normally $14.99, gratis.
