The Gunners midfielder is out of contract with the club at the end of the season and will be free to walk next summer.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil had to travel back home with an illness just hours before Sunday's 1-0 win at Burnley, and is set to miss Wednesday's game against Huddersfield as well, Arsene Wenger said.

"He's a football man and I will always decide what is best for him, that is my first priority no matter what kind of decision I make".

The Englishman's contract expires at the end of the season and he is still yet to start a Premier League match.

"If I think his best interest is to stay here then I will absolutely fight 100 per cent for him to stay here because he's a guy who is top-quality and is back fit now". "Yes, I rule it out", Wenger said at his prematch press conference when asked about potential departures. That's what I decided at the start of the season. That's impossible to answer today because I don't know.

"Mesut Ozil on a free to Manchester United on a free looks a shoo-in".

Ozil had trained as normal on Saturday and spent the night with the rest of the team at their hotel ahead of the game, but was a surprise absentee from the Arsenal lineup - which was otherwise unchanged from the derby win over Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Sanchez is expected to join Manchester City - whether in January or next summer.

"These teams come from hell - they have to play 46 games in the Championship to get out of that".

The German global is inside the final year of his Gunners contract at present, and is strongly linked with the exit door.
