Authorities say the Las Vegas shooter had 1,600 rounds of ammunition and several containers of an explosive commonly used in target shooting that totaled 50 pounds in his auto.

"This one is somewhat different than numerous ones we've dealt with in the past, because we don't have any immediately accessible thumbprints that would indicate the shooter's ideology or motivation, or really what compelled him to get there", McCabe said.

Paddock killed 59 people and wounded hundreds more at a country music festival near his hotel.

Investigators struggled to understand why Stephen Paddock, 64, assembled an arsenal of almost 50 firearms and used them to spray bullets from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas Strip hotel into a crowd of country-music fans on Sunday before killing himself.

Trump says authorities are "learning a lot more" about the gunman in the shooting, which killed 59 people and injured more than 500 during an outdoor Las Vegas concert. During the press briefing in the early hours of the day, Lombardo said, "Our investigation has found that he was not linked to the terror network".

Two sisters of Marilou Danley, the girlfriend of the Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock.

Police tweeted: "We're investigating reports of an active shooter near/around Mandalay Bay Casino".

Marilou Danley issued the statement after returning from her native Philippines and being questioned for much of the day by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents.

In the immediate aftermath, Ms Danley's image was broadcast around the world, sparking a global manhunt after it was revealed she had lived for years alongside the man who had committed the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history.

Investigators questioned her about Paddock's weapons purchases, a $100,000 wire transfer to a Philippine bank that appeared to be intended for her, and whether she saw any changes in his behavior before she left the United States.

"I knew Stephen Paddock as a kind, caring, quiet man", Danley said in the statement.

Officials say Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock had been stockpiling guns since 1982 and bought 33 firearms in the past year. The sister added, "She didn't even know that she was going to the Philippines until Steve said, 'Marilou, I found you a cheap ticket to the Philippines.'" There is one thing the sister agreed on with investigators and the general public.

Marilou Danley, the girlfriend of the gunman behind the Las Vegas shooting, said in a statement that she was not aware that "something disgusting like this was going to happen".

She arrived in Manila on Sept. 15, flew to Hong Kong on Sept. 22, returned to Manila on Sept. 25 and was there until she flew to Los Angeles on Tuesday night, according to a Philippine immigration official. "Her daughter took us to Graceland".

Paddock reportedly reserved a room at the Mandalay Bay hotel using some of her documents.

"He loved her. He doted on her", the shooter's brother, Eric Paddock said. Authorities believe Paddock brought the weapons into the hotel by himself, but they did not provide specifics.

The room goes for $590 but was given to Paddock for free because he was a good customer who wagered tens of thousands of dollars during each visit, the person said.
