The President said during his remarks that he is pushing for tax relief for middle-class families, "so they can keep more of their hard-earned paychecks".

But Mr Trump provided only broad outlines of what the tax code would look like if his plan succeeds, as Republican leaders in Congress and the White House have have not yet reached an agreement on the details.

President Donald Trump made an opening pitch in what promises to become a battle in Congress to revamp the United States tax code, which he told guests during a speech in Springfield, Illinois hurts middle class Americans by driving jobs overseas.

Trump claimed that the U.S. had gone from a lower tax rate than its economic competitors to one 60% higher.

President Donald Trump spoke in Springfield, Mo. on Wednesday.

"They've been the forgotten people, but they're not forgotten anymore, I'll tell you that".

He says the tax system should benefit the hard working american. "You know what? The United States is counting on it".

On Wednesday, President Trump promised to "un-rig" America's tax system.

Republicans are gearing up for a major push to fundamentally overhaul the tax code.

"Fourth and finally", said Trump, "we want to bring back trillions of dollars in wealth that's parked overseas".

The President classified his ideas as "pro-American tax reform" that will allow companies to hire in the US and expand at home, not overseas. He is the first President in four decades to withhold them from the public.

So POTUS will be making numerous trips out into the country that elected him to round up support and pressure Congress to get along with the business of putting more money back into peoples' wallets and more jobs on the tax rolls. Claire McCaskill to get behind his new introduced tax reform. He said he hopes to bring the business tax rate down to 15 percent because "China is taking us to the cleaners".

By pressing for action on taxes, Trump hopes to make good on a campaign promise and satisfy business groups. "Now, the middle class really needs a tax cut". That's an exaggeration. Trump repeatedly referred to the US top nominal 35% rate, which is among the world's highest. By contrast, the top 1% of earners, who take home $732,000, would seen average tax cut of $270,000, or about 18% of their income. He called on supporters to vote her out of office if she does not work with congress and the president on tax reform.
