As People shares, she was introduced by a descendant of Robert E. Lee.

While demonstrating against a rally of white supremacists and neo-Nazis advocating to protect a statue of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia, on 12 August, a man used a vehicle to drive into Heather and other protestors.

Lee, looking nervous to be on the stage, began by lamenting that his ancestor had become an "idol of white supremacy".

Reverend Robert Lee IV, a direct descendant of the Confederate general, introduced Bro and also denounced racism from the stage, calling it "America's original sin". He said was working to "answer God's call to confront racism and white supremacy" and sought inspiration from the Black Lives Matter movement, participants in January's Women's March and Heyer's bravery for standing up for her beliefs.

He called upon viewers to find inspiration in the Black Lives Matter movement, the Women's March, and in Heather Heyer - the activist who was murdered by a white supremacist in Charlottesville, after a vehicle plowed into a crowd of protestors.

Disaster start for Aussies in Bangladesh test
Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal starred with the bat for Bangladesh as they made 84 and 71 respectively. Shane Warne is the only Australian spinner to have now claimed more Test scalps than Lyon.

Heather Heyer was killed on August 12 in Charlottesville, Va.

After her introduction by Lee, Susan Bro went on to announce the establishment of the Heather Heyer Foundation, which will provide scholarships for other activists, before presenting the "Best Fight Against the System" award to all six nominees, including Big Sean, John Legend, and The Hamilton Mixtape, in the spirit of inclusion.

Despite several artist nominations for "Best Fight Against the System" through music, it was later revealed that all five of the nominees won the award in a symbolic gesture of unity. "In that spirit, MTV has made a decision to honor all six nominees for Best Fight Against the System". Alessia Cara spoke out about body-shaming. Lee told NPR. "And not only as a person of goodwill but as for me as a Christian, I can no longer sit by and allow my family's name to be used as hate-filled speech". "She's not allowed to speak now except through me", Bro told The Associated Press prior to the ceremony.

"I've been deeply moved to see people across the world-the whole world-find inspiration in her courage", Bro said of her daughter. I've said before that if I had to give Heather up, we were going to make it count. Logic and Damian Lemar Hudson celebrated diversity.

"I look forward to all of the work that they and all of you will do together to make the world a better, kinder place", Bro said of the winners.
