Yankees manager Joe Girardi and relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle had just been ejected after Kahnle threw a pitch behind Cabrera in the sixth.

Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez, who grappled with Cabrera, was hit with a four game suspension while Austin Romine received two games. Both benches cleared, and, while there was shoving, no more punches were thrown. And in the sixth, Tigers star Miguel Cabrera stepped to the plate and promptly got a pitch thrown behind his back.

In the seventh inning, Yankees reliever Dellin Betances was ejected, along with Yankees bench coach Rob Thompson, after he hit Detroit catcher James McCann in the helmet.

Then David Robertson came in and hit John Hicks with a pitch.

"I was actually on the field, so I haven't seen it, I haven't talked to them about it", Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said when asked about Verlander/Martinez incident, the Detroit Free Press reports. Bleacher Report adds Sanchez had a role in kicking off this feud, as Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer beamed him after he jacked a homer off the Tigers pitcher in the fourth inning. Both benched once again cleared, but less action took place.

The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees had a game that will most likely go down in the history books.

He was shot in the leg three minutes after the alarm was raised, and then detained, police said. Four other Moroccans , who deny involvement, are suspected of taking part in the attacks.

The Yankees then brought in Aroldis Chapman to pitch but right after he finished warming up, Romine and Cabrera started jawing. The umpires didn't immediately eject Betances, but they did after a conference.

You may not have been looking for a Thursday afternoon prelim to the McGregor vs Mayweather fight this weekend, but if you were watching the matchup between the Tigers and Yankees, that's pretty much what you got.

The game was finally about to resume when Cabrera stepped toward Romine, and the NY catcher took off his mask.

With the Yankees going after a playoff spot and the Tigers entering the day 17 games under.500, however, only NY would likely be hurt by ejections and suspensions of key players.

Sanchez sucker-punched Miguel Cabrera while he was on the ground during one of the brawls, but only Cabrera was ejected. Iglesias had three hits for the Tigers, and Brett Gardner had four for the Yankees.
