Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms continue this weekend

There will be a 70 percent chance of rain.

The chance for rain will return by Saturday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms that we mentioned Tuesday evening in west Texas did weaken as promised.

A cold front pushes into our area Wednesday and Thursday with chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies and a few rain showers will be possible, with a low of 51 degrees. South wind 6 to 8 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

A few sprinkles or an isolated burst of heavier rain will be all the atmosphere can muster Friday afternoon and evening. Winds will be light, coming from the south and later southeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Rain totals averaging 3 to 6 inches are expected between now and next Wednesday morning, with locally higher amounts very possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Low: 62. High: 80.

Saturday: Partly sunny. Chance for a shower or thunderstorm. Skies will be partly cloudy to partly sunny.

According to accuweather.com, there is a chance for thunderstorms again on Memorial Day. High near 79. South wind around 14 miles per hour with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour.

Friday Night. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Thursday's low in Madison was 47 at 11:59 p.m., the normal low and 19 degrees above the record low of 28 for May 18, set in 2002. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
