Brown leads Duke past Georgia Tech

Grayson Allen, a Duke junior, was a consensus preseason pick to win the ACC Player of the Year honors and was also expected to contend for National Player of the Year.

Grayson Allen scored 15 points in 27 minutes tonight in Duke's 110-57 win over Georgia Tech ... wait, wasn't Allen "suspended indefinitely" after tripping yet another opponent in a game on December 22?

After what felt like eons of waiting, Duke fans finally saw what a healthy Blue Devil team could look like in Wednesday's rout of Georgia Tech. The trip of Spalding earned him a flagrant foul; there was no foul whistled after Rathan-Mayes hit the floor, though that move did earn Allen a reprimand from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski issued what was deemed an indefinite suspension after Allen was guilty of his third high-profile tripping incident during a win against Elon on December 21.

Following Wednesday's win, both Allen and Krzyzewski discussed the decision to end the suspension. Calling the suspension "indefinite" (it technically lasted over two weeks) and stripping Allen of his captaincy is a wakeup call, just enough of one to make sure Allen understands that deliberate tripping is the line not to cross again.

Allen watched Saturday's 89-75 loss at Virginia Tech in street clothes.

Krzyzewski is scheduled to have the operation Friday and the school expects him to be back in roughly four weeks.

Owens entered the room where the officers and his sister were and displayed a 13-inch kitchen knife, police said. After speaking with witnesses, officers arrested a juvenile male in connection with the incident.

Krzyzewski said the past three games have been disjointed for his team, but some of that might have been masked by outcomes against Tennessee State and Elon.

Even just minutes into the game, there was no doubt about who would come out on top. 2016 wasn't great to the Blue Devils; the freshman trio made up of Jayson Tatum, Marques Bolden, and Harry Giles all suffered early season injuries.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski will be out for the next month because he has problems with his lower back, which he has to resolve with surgery.

Capel served as the team's head coach for one game last season, when Krzyzewski felt ill before a trip to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech.

Duke went 0-1 without Allen on the roster, losing to Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Capel's first game serving as head coach will be on January 7 against Boston College.

Let's start with the obvious fact that Mike Krzyzewski might know what he's doing after all these years. He kept him in the Elon game for the second half after the tripping incident, and snapped at reporters, "I think I've handled this correctly.I don't need to satisfy what other people think I should do". In addition, the Blue Devils were missing Allen's scoring ability. With his role stabilized, Allen had 15 points and seven assists with only one turnover.
