Martino then turned on the officers with his gun in hand, prompting two of the officers to open fire, shooting him in the torso, authorities said.

The officers heard gunfire from 990 Atlantic Ave. and went after Martino, said NYPD officials. Upon arrival, officers found the man who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The man, who has not been identified, died at Brooklyn Hospital sometime before 4:30 a.m. Police recovered the knife at the scene.

After speaking with witnesses, officers arrested a juvenile male in connection with the incident. It was not immediately clear how many times the officers fired. The revolver was recovered from the scene.

Owens was hit in the chest and was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
