Meet your next governor: Eric Holcomb

A former Indiana House speaker, Gregg started out better known than Holcomb, who has never been elected to office and only became Pence's lieutenant governor eight months ago. "And Suzanne Crouch and I are going to add story after story after story as we take IN to the next level".

Holcomb says Trump drew many supporters who never voted before, boosting Republican candidates throughout the state. "So we will be measuring what we do on a daily basis, soliciting support from Hoosiers from all over the state of IN to achieve that goal".

On Tuesday, riding an electoral wave that saw Republicans sweep races across the country, Holcomb did just that - winning the election to become Indiana's 51 governor.

Indiana's next Senator says Congress needs to provide a strong check on the power wielded by future President Donald Trump.

Moving forward, Republican focus is expected to be on policies promoted during this year's campaign season, said Indiana University Department of Political Science Chair Gerald Wright.

"I meant it last night when I said that no one's opinion will be pushed aside". Democrats had hoped in Tuesday's election to pick up at least the five seats needed to break the supermajority, but have gained only a single seat with one race victor not yet called.

Democrats need to gain five seats in the 100-member House to break the two-thirds supermajority that allows Republicans to take action even if no Democrats are present.

After all, Durant infamously texted Westbrook - as opposed to calling him - to inform him that he was leaving the Thunder. Miles added 19, Jeff Teague had 16 and Myles Turner 15, but it wasn't enough as the Pacers slipped to 0-3 on the road.

Holcomb touted the state's improved fiscal condition under the past 12 years of Republican governors. He spent 10 months running for this year's Republican U.S. Senate nomination, but had little fundraising success.

"Tonight, we have to acknowledge we did not get our message out", said Christina Hale, Gregg's lieutenant governor candidate.

In an interview with RTV6 Statehouse Reporter Katie Heinz, Holcomb said he wanted the job to keep IN "on course and moving forward".

Alongside developing a sustainable, long-term infrastructure plan, Bosma said representatives will work with Republican Jennifer McCormick, who unseated Democrat Glenda Ritz as Indiana's state schools superintendent, to develop an efficient substitute for ISTEP and expanded pre-kindergarten programs to more counties and low-income families.

"There are women in IN and forgotten people in IN who count on the 30 House Democrats and the members in the Senate to be their voices", Pelath said.

Holcomb said he believed voters supported his message of sticking with policies adopted under Daniels and Pence.

"Hoosiers all over the state of IN said (Tuesday) night that they want to keep this state moving forward, that they want to continue the forward momentum and like the direction the state is heading", he said. On behalf of the [Indiana Democratic Party], I want to thank all of them for their hard work and dedication.
