To the credit of some Big Ten schools - including Penn State - they announced they would not host Friday night games.

The Big Ten will play six Friday night football games a year starting in 2017 and continuing through at least 2022, the conference announced Wednesday.

Traditionally against Friday night games after Labor Day weekend due to high school football schedules, the Friday night slate marks a significant shift for the conference. Due to the size of the stadiums, both Ohio State and Penn State will not be asked to have games on the new night, and MI has evidently already stated they were not interested in playing on Friday, either home OR away games.

Penn State also said that it would be willing to play an occasional game on the day after Thanksgiving. I guess I just don't understand the benefit of moving a game up to Friday night, there is no tradition in that - and tradition is a huge part of the Ohio State football program.

The reasoning behind the deal is that 95 Big Ten games are being featured on TV, and the league wants to have more national on-air time.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Delany was reluctant to ask schools with large stadiums - Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State - to host Friday night home games.
